Dave was born and raised in Northeast Kentucky almost exactly halfway between Grayson and Olive Hill, the hometown of the late, great Tom T. Hall. Matter of fact, his first live concert was a Tom T. Hall homecoming show on the 4th of July when he was 11 years old - several years before Dave began learning how to play and sing himself. Unknowingly, those songs he heard from Tom T. would in time come to have a profound influence on him and his life. Fast forward over 40 years later and Dave is recognized for not only his guitar and vocal acumen, he has secured his status as one of the most respected and recognized writers of this era. He has composed a treasure trove catalog of his own songs that have been recorded by the biggest names in the industry including his own configuration. According to him, it all started with those Tom T. songs. "It's really hard to overstate or even quantify what music means to me. It's given me more than I could have ever imagined. I love everything about it."
